Land Acknowledgement

I acknowledge that I live and work in the traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani First Nations), the Stoney Nakoda (Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations), and the Tsuut’ina First Nations, as well as the Métis Nation of Alberta. They are my neighbours.

I am painfully aware of the historical violation of human rights, and the crimes committed by the colonial forces of Canada’s federal government in collaboration with church authorities against the First Nations people. Although our current government has committed to redressing past wrongs, there is still much work to be done to address past attrocities, and to plan collaboratively with all First Nations and Metis people toward a safe, equitable future.

I am grateful to be able to live and work here in this beautiful territory. I support the efforts of everyone who is committed to building a better, cooperative future.
